The Great Veggie Grow-Off is a county-wide friendly competition among private and community gardeners to see which community can grow/donate the most produce to their local food bank. The above picture is just to show how the competition is growing for The Hunger Stop.
This competition has been running for the past 7 years (only the last 5 have been county-wide). Anyone who has fresh extra produce is encouraged to consider donating it to their food bank – our clients love the addition of healthy, fresh foods for their families.
As an aside, Mississippi Mills was the undisputed champion of this competition until 2019 and we think they are working double time to regain their crown (actually, it’s a trophy).
Whichever town/food bank brings home the cup, it is the families we serve that win. Thank you.
