What to expect if it’s your first time visiting the food bank

When you visit the food bank, you’ll be greeted by our manager and your situation will be assessed to ensure we support you as best as possible. This involves a few preliminary questions about the size of your family and any special diet requirements you might have (gluten-free or vegetarian, for example).

What you’ll need to bring

You’ll need identification for yourself (driver’s license, passport, birth certificate, etc.) and any other family members, plus proof of address (utility bill or other recent mail).

How it works

You “shop” for your 5 days worth of food. You select items from our shelves where the number of items for each type of food varies depending on family size and seasonal availability. There is a volunteer assigned to help you and answer any questions you might have.

Typically, your shopping cart will include milk, bread, eggs, cereal, juice, school snacks, baked beans, pasta, pasta sauce, mac & cheese, canned soups and stews, canned tuna, canned and fresh fruits and veggies, rice, and peanut butter.

Baby food and items (e.g., diapers) are usually available, as are some household items (e.g., toilet paper, dish soap, etc.).
